Strategy Games That Fit a Ten-Minute Break
Not everyone can sink an evening into a campaign. Most of my own strategy playing happens in short windows: a bus ride, a queue, a coffee gone cold.
The trick is finding games with clean save states and self-contained decisions. You want to open, make a few meaningful moves, and close without feeling like you abandoned something mid-thought.
Turn-based games shine here because time simply waits for you. Wave-based tower defence works too, as long as you can pause between waves. Avoid anything with harsh real-time timers if you play in bursts.
Look for a good undo or plan-ahead mode as well. When you only have minutes, being able to test a move without losing progress keeps the experience relaxing instead of stressful.
The goal is a game that respects a short attention window and still gives you something to chew on. Those are the ones that stay on my phone for months.
